THE report on a video alleging an extramarital affair between a senior Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officer and a married woman will be investigated just like any other police report, said Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun.

The report, which was lodged at the Sentul district police headquarters on Tuesday, is being investigated by federal police in Bukit Aman.

Yes, we are investigating the report. It will be investigated just like any other report,” said Fuzi.

The report was lodge after the complainant, a marketing executive, came across a three-minute video on YouTube alleging that a couple had divorced on September 28 at the Ulu Klang lower shariah court due to the woman’s alleged affair with an MACC officer.

It showed several pictures of the woman in question, as well as images of her with her family, including two young children.

The video also featured a compilation of old clips of the MACC officer.

In one clip, the officer spoke about men and women who swayed from their faith, and those who failed to repent. Another clip showed the officer reciting a poem on integrity.

Questions and remarks directed at the officer were inserted between the clips and pictures, such as, “How could you destroy this family?” and “Don’t you pity the children?”.

Earlier today, MACC deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki declined to comment when asked if the anti-graft body was looking into the matter.

“I am sorry. I do not want to comment on it,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

An MACC source said the video was an attempt to smear the senior officer and the agency.

“Whether he (the officer) has viewed the video accusing him of having an affair with a married woman is not known,” said the source.

The couple, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, denied that the failure of their marriage was because the wife had an affair with the MACC officer.

They said their divorce was a mutual decision and a private family matter.

They described those responsible for making the allegation, and publicising and manipulating their divorce, as “keji” (despicable).

The couple said they would not hesitate to take legal action against those responsible or anyone who still wanted to make use of their divorce for personal or political agendas. – October 13, 2017.

  • Unless the affair compromised the officer in discharging his duties, I do not see the point in investigating him for being a "home wrecker" (even the aggrieved party wants to put it to rest). Why not use the time more productively in catching corrupted public officials and politicians?

  • I think our Macc friend has stirred up the hornets nest. The arrest of many underling officers and sparring the top guns are not going according to plans and it is pay back time as all are affected irrespective of which level is arrested. The viral shown of his photo shots are quite recent on his romantic rendezvous trip. Just do not understand why he is so casual when he is holding a high profile job. Actually it is a making of mountain out of the mole hill. The date of their love trip are after the divorce. Maybe the extramarital affairs were much earlier and a good pointers to ground him but again it is something personal and should be resloved on his own doing rather than other parties crowding in to take a piece of his hide.
