SABAH Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal has called for a concerted effort between society and government in the cultivation of sustainable development as the state rides along with Malaysia’s quest to achieve high-income status.
He said it can only be done through strategising and working collectively towards green technology innovation.
“To achieve the national aspiration, Malaysia needs to have a strategy to manage and retain the best talents. An important strategy is by integrating the principle of leaving no one behind.
“This is in line with the government’s model of development ‘shared prosperity’. It is crucial to sustainable development,” he said at the opening of the UMS second international global development through policy, innovation and integration in Kota Kinabalu today.
His speech was read by Assistant Sabah Finance Minister Sariffudin Hatta.
Shafie said everyone is accountable to each other in achieving shared objectives such as the aim to attain sustainable development goals by 2030. – September 18, 2019.
