PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has urged his aide, Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak, to assist in police’s probe into an alleged assault case in Ampang on Saturday.
He called on Farhash, who is also the party’s Perak chief, to meet police as soon as possible.
“He should, he must, meet police,” Anwar told reporters briefly before leaving an event in Sunway today.
Yesterday, the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department said Farhash and 10 other men allegedly assaulted a boxing coach outside Kompleks D’Star Arena on Merdeka Day.
It is believed that in the 9pm incident, a fight had broken out among 12 to 14 men. Police said the ruckus erupted when the suspect pushed the boxing coach in the face.
Meanwhile, Anwar refused to comment on the emergence of new sex clips implicating his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali, only saying: “I do not want to get involved in this.”
Early today, half a dozen sex clips, showing a man resembling Azmin, were released on social media. They were also shared via a newly formed WhatsApp group.
The group, titled “Video Terkini Azmin” (Azmin’s latest video), was created at 3.35am. It has more than 80 reporters and politicians as members.
Six clips about three minutes long were posted in the group. They appear to be edits from a video shared with members of the press in June, and which has resurfaced on various platforms, including YouTube.
Following the video’s initial release, former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz admitted to being one of the two men filmed, and named Azmin as the other.
Haziq, who has been booted from the party, had said the recording was made without his consent in a hotel room in Sandakan in May.
Azmin has repeatedly denied being in the video, calling it an attempt at ending his political career.
In July, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said Cybersecurity Malaysia found the video to be authentic, but facial recognition failed to confirm whether Azmin is in it.
Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam, however, has said Indonesian and UK experts he hired to analyse the video confirmed the duo to be Azmin and Haziq.
The case is being investigated under Sections 377B and 292 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Sections 377B and 292 of the Penal Code deal with carnal intercourse against the order of nature and the dissemination of obscene materials, respectively.
Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act pertains to the improper use of a network service or application. – September 5, 2019.
