WWII bomb caused Bandar Malaysia explosion, police say

POLICE have confirmed that the explosion at an MRT construction site in Bandar Malaysia which maimed three workers was caused by a World War II era bomb.

“Investigations have determined that it was caused by an old bomb from World War II… and the bomb exploded suddenly during construction work,” said Kuala Lumpur Police chief Amar Singh.

During the incident about 5pm today, three Bangladeshi workers were severely injured, with two of them losing their legs while the other sustaining injuries to his arms and legs.

They were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, a source at the Fire and Rescue Department said they received a distress call at 5.23pm and arrived on scene 10 minutes later.;

He said 25 personnel and five vehicles were scrambled in response to the incident. – Bernama, October 10, 2017.
