THE government is hell-bent on going after her family, said Nooryana Najwa Najib, as the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) is hot on her heels over RM10.3 million in unpaid income tax.
“I do not blame the people in IRB since I know their hands are tied. There are politicians higher up who are the masterminds behind this,” the daughter of former prime minister Najib Razak said on social media today.
“Today, the government says I owe them RM10.3 million in taxes, penalties, penalties on top of penalties and interest based on my so-called ‘income’ from the year 2011 to 2017,” she said.
The government, via the IRB, is seeking more than RM10.3 million in income tax from Nooryana, 30, for the 2011-2017 period.
A writ of summons filed on July 24 had named Nooryana as the defendant in a suit to claim RM10,335,292.36.
Case management has been set for September 12 before Shah Alam deputy registrar S.S. Malini Anne.
Nooryana said that payments from her husband were incorrectly considered “income” by taxmen.
“My husband and his family have been independently wealthy long before we met, and even before, my mother-in law was married to one of Kazakhstan’s richest tycoon for 10 years,” she said.
Nooryana said she has furnished the IRB with detailed bank transfers showing that her income came from overseas and were from her husband’s family when the audit started last year.
She added that a house bought by her husband and his family, for which she was named as a joint-owner, formed the monies sought by the IRB.
In addition, she said some of the money considered her income was part of the hantaran (wedding gift) she received from her husband.
The Harvard graduate said she has never operated a business in Malaysia nor tendered for government contracts.
She added she had spent most of her years studying and had worked briefly overseas.
“Just like in the case of my father and siblings who have been similarly hit on a ridiculous basis, many who know the details of the case are shocked and speechless at how blatant the government is abusing the law,” she said.
All of this evidence will come out in court one day, she said, and “the world will know how ridiculous these charges are. Inshaallah, the truth will prevail”. – August 27, 2019.

If she broke the law, the government has every right to charge you in court. This does not only apply to you but every citizen that breaks the law.. So dont seek support and sympathy by twisting your words. Just face the consequences. If your daughter is not guilty, why worry - she will be free..
