THE cabinet members will stay but their portfolios may change in an upcoming reshuffle, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.

Dr Mahathir also dismissed rumours that Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed would get a place in the cabinet.

He said he has yet to make any decisions.

“I spoke to the cabinet yesterday. Maybe change of portfolios, only change portfolio. But that has not been decided as yet,” he said.

News reports quoting sources today said a cabinet reshuffle is in the works and could be announced as soon as next week.

No one would be axed but the portfolios would be swapped, two sources told The Malaysian Insight earlier today.

“The reshuffle won’t axe any minister, it will be merely to change their portfolios.

“In other words, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim won’t be joining the cabinet,” said a source.

Dr Mahathir said he “cannot reveal at this time” which or when the portfolios would be switched.

He said he was satisfied with the performance of his cabinet.

“They have had more than one year’s experience now. They are now more able then when they started.” – August 22, 2019.
