THERE are no racial elements in a road-rage incident along the KL-Seremban highway yesterday, which resulted in the death of a man and the arrest of a couple, said a Selangor police chief.

Fadzil Ahmat, the Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief, said initial investigations revealed that the 29-year-old who died in the resulting fight had rammed into the suspects’ Toyota Innova.

“Following that, the two (cars) started to chase and taunt each other until the drivers stopped after the Bandar Baru Bangi exit.

“Subsequently, a fight broke out between the suspect and the deceased,” Fadzil said in a statement today.

A few drivers tried to calm them and both went back to their vehicles.

“However, the deceased got out of his car with a baseball bat and hit the front of the suspect’s car,” said Fadzil.

The suspect then moved his vehicle forward and knocked into the deceased.

The statement follows a social media storm which has turned the incident into a racial incident.

Police have obtained a seven-day remand order against a 40-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife to facilitate investigations. – August 11, 2019.
