POLICE are seeking a remand order for a couple involved in a road-rage incident yesterday which left a 29-year-old man dead.

Kajang police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The victim and the suspects had allegedly gotten into a road accident along the Plus Highway near Bandar Baru Bangi around 1.40pm yesterday.

It resulted in an argument, which culminated in a scuffle between the deceased and the suspect, who is in his 40s.

“The victim was then sent to the hospital and was pronounced dead soon after. We have arrested the suspect and his wife for further investigations,” said Ahmad Dzaffir in the statement.

He said they will be taken to the Kajang magistrates’ court at noon.

The Malaysian Insight was made to understand initial investigation showed that the suspect’s vehicle, an Innova, had nearly been knocked by the deceased’s vehicle, an Axia.

This led to a car chase on the highway, which ended after one of the vehicles crashed into the other in an accident.

Sources said after the crash, the victim took out a baseball bat and started smashing the suspect’s vehicle.

Struck by fear, the suspect accelerated and ran into the victim.

The victim was then taken to the hospital and subsequently died.

A viral clip of the accident on social media shows the victim being held by the suspect after the accident.

The clip showed an Innova with its front damaged.

Those with any information regarding the incident, including any videographic evidence, are urged to contact the investigating officer ASP Siti Sarah Aisyah Saad at 016-406 4202, or the nearest police station. – August 11, 2019
