Gunman fired warning shot at Pekan Umno office before GE14, says Najib

FORMER prime minister Najib Razak said a sniper shot at the Pekan Umno division office exactly one year before the 14th general election.

The Pekan MP said the incident led him to beef up his security detail as he was prime minister at the time. 

“A sniper had shot into my room at the (Umno) office in Pekan.

“At the time the sniper knew I wasn’t in, but the person wanted to send a message,” he said at the Hard Truth: Cash is King forum at Umno headquarters last night. 

Najib said the bullet came from a sniper rifle from a distance of 200 metres and hit the mirror in his office.

“The mirror was not broken. But there were signs that a bullet had been shot… targeting me as the Pekan chief,” he said.

Najib said the shot was a warning to him.

He said the incident was reported to the police but the authorities could not identify the culprit.

Najib was explaining why he was unapproachable when he was prime minister. 

“There were people who asked me, why these days, I’m different (from how) I used to (be).

“I have not changed. In the past, I was the prime minister and there was safety protocol to follow. 

“I’m a person who likes to hang out and to relax. But it looked like I had a fence around me.

“That was not what I wanted, but it was what the job demanded,” he said.

Najib said he had no such problems now and that people could take selfies with him and even put their arms around him.

“Just don’t grab me,” he joked. 

Since losing at GE14, Najib’s public demeanour public has changed dramatically, with his “Malu Apa Bossku” tour, in which he travels around the country meeting the people, earning him a large following. 

Najib has denied trying to win back support to regain power in Umno with the campaign, which he said was initiated to help revive the party. – August 8, 2019.

  • I won't classify this as lying but its a bedtime story telling especially for dumno folks. This is an attempt to change your skin but underneath that skin is the same old Najib the most corrupted leader this nation ever had. Who are you trying to toy around, anyone who has a weapon would not miss a target as the two of you are big buffalos with just aim with both eyes shut.
