THE Perak PKR chief, who caused a stir when he called Mohamed Azmin Ali a homosexual and challenged police to arrest the party No. 2, is standing by his outburst as he wants fairness in the probe.
Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak said he wants to see all those implicated in the sex video scandal to be given the same treatment he got from cops.
He was arrested and held in remand for more than a week to facilitate the investigation, and was clearly agitated when he was released from the Dang Wangi district police headquarters on Tuesday, when he made his fiery speech.
He told The Malaysian Insight yesterday that he is responsible for what he said, and urged the media not to drag his boss, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, into the matter.
“The media should stop dragging Anwar (into this) because of what I said.
“I may be his political secretary, but please remember that my rights as a Malaysian were compromised.
Top cop Abdul Hamid Bador has said police acted within the ambit of the law when arresting Farhash.
He said the arrest was needed as part of the investigation, and that police have the power to question or detain anyone for the purpose.
“I will not allow my men to act as they like in any case. I don’t see this case as being unfair to anyone.”

On Tuesday, Farhash called Azmin “semburit”, and this was repeated by the crowd. “Semburit”, in Bahasa Malaysia, means gay sex.
Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister, has been implicated in a sex scandal involving sacked Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.
Haziq has confessed to being one of the two men in the clips, which first made the rounds last month, and named Azmin as the other, a claim that the latter has repeatedly denied.
Following Farhash’s outburst, a Selangor PKR member yesterday filed a complaint with the party’s disciplinary board, requesting that action be taken against the Anwar aide for publicly calling Azmin a homosexual.
Former state PKR deputy information chief K. Gunasekaran, who was accompanied by four supporters at the party’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya, said Farhash should not have made any statement disrespecting the deputy president and party.
“Police have already said Azmin is not identified as (one of the men) in the video… When he (Farhash) shouted ‘Azmin semburit’... that is an offence.
“He has shown no respect to Azmin or the party.”
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil last night said the disciplinary board will call up Farhash and Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari over their public statements on the scandal.
“The disciplinary board has been told to contact Farhash, Amirudin and other members of the party. They will be asked to clarify their recent statements regarding the clips,” he said on Facebook.
Amirudin previously said the person responsible for leaking the clips was “someone who had been through a similar ordeal and fought through a dark period of history”.
Farhash was among nine people who were remanded as part of the police probe into the clips.
Haziq, too, was released on Tuesday, along with another man whose identity is not known. – July 25, 2019.
