PERAK PKR leaders today urged the police to reveal the whereabouts of their state chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak who has been in police custody after being arrested on Monday.

They, Farhash’s lawyers and supporters gathered at Dang Wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur this evening in solidarity with Farhash, who is also the political secretary to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Perak PKR deputy chief M. A. Thinakaran said they and the lawyers have been unable to communicate with Farhash.

“Is this the new Malaysia? Our lawyers have been unsuccessful in communicating with Farhash. We want to know how is he doing in police custody,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Farhash was arrested on Monday in Masai, Johor, and then remanded for four days since Tuesday to be investigated for the production and distribution of a sex video implicating Economic Affairs Minister and PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He is one of nine men arrested over the matter, and is expected to be released tomorrow at the end of his remand period.

His lawyer Harjit Singh, meanwhile, said the last time he spoke to Farhash was on Tuesday during his remand hearing.

“And after that there has been no communications at all with him.

“The police have powers to investigate but as his lawyer, I also have my right to be in communication with him,” he said.

Last month, a series of clips showing two men engaging in sexual acts were released on WhatsApp.

Former PKR political aide Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz subsequently said he was one of the men in the videos, and that Azmin was the other.

Azmin has vigorously denied the claims, calling the affair a conspiracy to ruin his career. PKR has since sacked Haziq.

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador had said the police had identified the mastermind behind the production and circulation of the videos.

He also said that a senior PKR official was the mastermind behind the scandal, with the aim of bringing down Azmin. – July 19, 2019.
