POLICE have yet to decide to call in Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng over a report lodged by an Umno lawmaker over his claim of stolen tax refunds, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said today.

Hamid confirmed Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin had filed a report against Lim last year and the possibility of Lim being questioned.

“I am aware of the report lodged by Khairy Jamaluddin. We are looking into it for further action.”

“As of now we have yet to decide whether to call Lim or not but of course the possibility is always there,” Hamid said after presenting awards at the 4th General Operations Force (PGA) battalion camp in Semenyih today.

Khairy made the report after Lim accused the former Barisan Nasional government of misusing money meant for GST refunds.

Lim had announced that RM19.4 billion was missing, using the word “robbed” to describe the reason for the loss, in the Dewan Rakyat last August.

His accusations prompted Khairy to go to the police and the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to demand an investigation.

The PAC yesterday presented a report on its investigations into Lim’s claims, saying the money was not stolen but went to pay for the government’s expenditures. – July 16, 2019.

  • KJ, wrong move man. We have much to thank LGE for bringing up the subject to at least find out where the money has gone. Clearly the money was mismanaged. And the result is people suffered because the high costs of running business is passed down to them by the struggling businessmen. Do you feel the pain with us?

  • KJ, very obvious is CBT. PDRM must investigate this financial irregularities.
Where is the money now ?
The money is not revenue for the government. Abuse of power used money for other purposes. Illegal indeed. No wonder no Refund for 2 years. Now under PH, already started to refund to taxpayers.
