Najib wants attacks over his BN advisory chair appointment stopped

NAJIB Razak wants Barisan Nasional (BN) members to unite and stop the criticism that followed his appointment as the coalition’s advisory board chairman.

The former Umno president said some of the statements against him were uncalled for, adding that the Malay party needed to unite after its heavy defeat in the last general election.

“Those who have been criticising, look at yourself, why didn’t you contest in the Supreme Council election? Now you wanted to school others. What is the problem?

“We can’t be like this. We must find a way to unite, those with strength give it to the party. If Bossku can add on to it, it will benefit Umno and BN,” said Najib when opening the Pendang Umno delegates meeting last night.

Bossku is a campaign aimed at youth which has struck a chord with them and brought about a revival of sorts of Najib’s image among them.

Though he did not single out any Umno member, it is believed that his swipe was aimed at Padang Rengas MP Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, who a few days ago called Najib’s appointment a “regressive move”.

The outspoken former minister said Najib was the reason why BN lost in the 14th general election (GE14), adding that there is nothing he could contribute to making the coalition or Umno strong again.

“Who was in charge when BN lost in GE14? What kind of advice can he give us?” Nazri had told reporters.

“I don’t think it will strengthen Umno, it is regressive.”

Nazri had never contested in the Umno Supreme Council elections in the last two decades and his appointment over the years was at the pleasure of the party president

Najib last night also took a dig at Umno members who had left the party or who were indifferent to its struggle now.

He said the defeat in GE14 showed the party can now value certain leaders’ commitment to its struggle.

“Maybe when I was the PM it was hard to see, when I had the power all was okay boss. Sometimes when I was still talking, they agreed before I could finish my sentence. That’s how it goes when you have power.

“Now we see when we are powerless, who are willing to stand in the frontline and fight, who are afraid and who ran away,” he said. – July 13, 2019.

  • UMNO members still support a kleptocrat that caused BN a big loss in GE14. That's something very hard for people to understand. Is it because UMNO has no will to change? Or, are they still romancing the good old days where money came so easily as handouts?

  • A kleptocrat returning to be an advisor, that is a solid proof that UMNO is void of good people now.

  • You like to attack others but you want others to stop attacking you. What type of sh*t logic does your brain use. Very soon, sewage will be gushing out from your mouth, MO1.

  • Those who occupy public office and benefited excessively from it, and who are now faced with multiple charges of stealing over 40 billion from national coffers, lose any right to complain about being subject to public derision. Utterly shameless man with skin thicker than buffaloes.

  • Najib, you must clear your name, thru a court of law, if you didnt steal peoples money. No two way about it. Until and unless your name is cleaner by the courts you should not take up any appointment involving the public. Best thing for you to do is lie low, finish all your legal battles, then with a clean bill in your character, you come back and fight. But then if you lost, retire quietly and lamely to Sg.Bulok or whichever jail they shut you in.

  • Trying hard to save himself using the Malay unity line! I guess if I am guilty of stealing Tabung Haji Money, Felda Money, and 1MDB money, and guilty of destroying a few lives after the Altatunya murder already, I have to bluff my way out otherwise I will be spending rest of my life in prison. And if the party members are so stupid, why not use race and religion to save myself?
