A DRIVER for Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor told the High Court in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon that in June 2016 he was instructed to cash in a RM2 million cheque for Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd, belonging to Tengku Adnan.

However, Nik Yahaya Nik Mustapha, who drove for Tengku Adnan from 1994 to 2018, testified that he did not know what the purpose of the payment was.

“I received the cheque date June 14, 2016, from Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd for RM2 million from Tengku Adnan on that day in his office.

“I was instructed to deposit the cheque to Tadmansori Holdings,” said Nik Yahaya.

“I have no knowledge about the cheque and I have no knowledge of the person from Aset Kayamas,” he said.

Asked by defence lead counsel Tan Hock Chuan if Tengku Adnan had ordered him to cash in other cheques, Nik Yahaya said he could not remember.

“He was generous but I can’t recall if there were similar orders to cash in cheques,” Nik Yahaya said.

Asked again if it was normal for him to be asked by Tengku Adnan to cash in cheques, Nik Yahaya repeated that he can’t recall.

Nik Yahaya was Tengku Adnan’s driver cum bodyguard for 24 years before resigning last year.

Earlier this morning, a bank officer from CIMB confirmed that a company linked to the Putrajaya MP had received a RM2 million cheque.

The banker, Khairolrony Kamarudin said the cheque was from developer Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd.

Another witness, Muhammad Akmaludin Abdullah from the Companies Commission of Malaysia, testified that Tadmansori was founded on August 25, 1987, as an investment company and that Tengku Adnan was the largest shareholder.

Today is the first day of the trial. It will resume tomorrow morning and it is expected to continue until Thursday this week, then on the following dates: July 9 to 11, 16 to 18, and 29, and August 1 to 2. – July 2, 2019.

  • Bank officer is not a banker ! Banker is either a CEO, the top guys or owners.

  • The driver says he cant recall or not sure shows he is deliberately lying and telling the court that there were many other cheques given to him by Adnan to be cashed.
