FORMER prime minister Najib Razak today outlined three factors that can ensure Umno returns to power in Putrajaya after the next general election.

The former Umno president said in order to regain its lost power, the party must strengthen itself by having members and leaders who do not fear facing Pakatan Harapan, build closer ties with PAS, and solidify his own “bossku” support base.

“With these three factors, we can generate a huge wave that can lift Umno and PAS to Putrajaya,” he said while officiating Jeli Umno division meeting today.

“Trust me, this is our best option.”

The last general election saw the Najib-led Barisan Nasional suffering humiliating defeat in the hands of Pakatan after being in power for 66 years.

BN managed to win only 79 parliamentary seats from the available 222. Of that, Umno managed to return as the strongest BN party by winning 54 parliamentary seats.

However, the party is now left with only 37 seats following the defections of some of its senior leaders to Bersatu.

As for Najib, he is facing a litany of charges related to the 1MDB scandal. He has, however, managed to secure support through his Malu Apa Bossku campaign where he is seen mingling with the men on the street, and questioning the government’s policies on social media.

Speaking further at the event today, Najib said Umno’s failure to defend the federal power has resulted in Malays suffering in the hands of Pakatan.

“In an Umno annual assembly five years ago, I said that if Umno fails, the Malay community will suffer. Today, that has happened.

“So, wake up. This is not about Najib, Zahid, Mat Hasan or Tok Pa. This is about race and religion.

“We must fight. Don’t be afraid of Pakatan. If they take action against us, we fight back. We have our lawyers,” he said. – June 28, 2019.

  • Why must you fight for power? The whole Malaysia will thank you if you make yourself a constructive opposition. Don't be greedy for money and power.

  • Najib's UMNO Art of War; When all political strategies fail, resort to the toxic politics of race & religion to stay politically relevant with PAS instead of fighting for good government, accountabilty and transparancy for the good of our beloved nation where the universal values of liberty, equality & justice can prevail at all times.

  • Dont laugh. He may be right. Its easy to manipulate them when they are unhappy with the government. Unless PH bucks up and make sure they can earn a decent living UMNO and PAS may just win the next election.

  • What a wishful thinking your party would have survived had you step down but no since your motto of CASH IS KING with the highest of ego and arrogant you thought you could wield the power you had but we Malaysian had it enough. You brought down your party not us. For a crook and thief you are you had the cheek to outline the down fall of Pakatan what a power crazy and hungry you are, a person of no moral value and a face as tick as the wall of china.
