PKR is not going to question Mohamed Azmin Ali about a viral gay sex clip purportedly involving him with a Sarawak PKR youth member Mohamad Haziq Abdul Aziz.

Party president Anwar Ibrahim said it is not appropriate to call the PKR deputy president at the moment.

“It is not fair to call him and question him during this difficult time.

“Our stand is clear, we reject gutter politics and there is no need to call him. The issue of him not attending party meetings is a separate issue,” Anwar said after chairing the party’s central leadership council meeting today.

Asked about Haziq’s challenge for Azmin to sue him, Anwar said he was not in a position to comment on the matter.

“It is for him to answer. Purely his decision,” he said.

Haziq had dared Azmin to take legal action against him if the Gombak MP is confident of his own innocence.

The Santubong PKR Youth chief, who had sensationally claimed that he was the man in a sex video with Azmin which went viral two weeks ago, also challenged the PKR deputy president to lodge a police report against him.

He said Azmin had never made a police report against him but his political secretary Muhammad Hilman Idham did.

Azmin’s lawyer, N. Surendran, responded by saying that he and his client will not respond to “taunts” by Haziq with regards to any legal action that might or might not be taken against the 27-year-old.

“We do not act or respond according to such attention-seeking taunts,” N. Surendran said on Twitter today.

“All legal responses are done as we see fit, according to our timetable & not imposed by others.”

Azmin has denied being the man in the video with Haziq and claimed to be a victim of slander, saying that the video was the work of parties seeking to destroy his political career.

He also said he had only minimal contact with Haziq and denied reports that the two were close.

Haziq and Azmin had been questioned by police, who had formed a task force to investigate the case.

CID chief Huzir Mohamad had said that Haziq is under investigation for four offences, including sodomy and distribution of obscene material.

“He is being investigated under Section 377B for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for the improper use of network facilities

“He is also being investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code for the sale or otherwise of obscene material, and Section 504 for the intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace,” he said. – June 23, 2019.
