EMBATTLED PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has shown obvious displeasure over his party’s call not to sack Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz over a series of leaked sex clips last week, but appeared to accept the decision.

“A decision has been made. I can’t reveal more,” said the economic affairs minister at the Prime Minister’s Office’s Raya celebrations in Putrajaya today.

“No, no, it is not about me being happy or not. You have to see what is the perception of the public,” he said.

Azmin’s ally and PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin had proposed for Haziq to be sacked from the party for dragging the party into a sex scandal last week.

In a series of sex clips, followed by a Facebook video confession, Haziq claimed that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with Azmin.

Azmin had denied being the man in the videos seen to be engaging in sex acts with Haziq.

Earlier today, Azmin appeared to disagree with his party’s decision to show cause instead of sacking Haziq, which he said should have been “basic logic”.

“I cannot disagree with you. But how much can I say,” he said when asked if he felt that the party leadership should have sacked Haziq.

PKR had decided to give the Santubong PKR Youth chief 14 days to respond to a show cause letter issued by the party’s disciplinary board on Wednesday.

Party president Anwar Ibrahim said the board forwarded four recommendations, including the decision to issue the show cause letter to Haziq, which were endorsed by the political bureau during its meeting.

“Attendance was almost full, except for Azmin. We respect all views, but the decision stands as agreed to by the disciplinary board,” said Anwar. – June 20, 2019.
