PUTERI Umno has published a five-minute video slamming Pakatan Harapan over unfulfilled promises.
The video, titled “One Year Of PH – The Millennials”, features the wing’s chief, Zahida Zarik Khan, Dr Masliha Harun of Puteri’s Lembah Pantai division, as well as Raja Sara Petra, the daughter of self-exiled Umno blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.
It begins with Raja Sara, who quit Gerakan in January to join the Barisan Nasional lynchpin, asking how many promises have PH fulfilled since it won federal power in last year’s 14th general election.
“Not even one,” said Zahida.
“There is one – the price of eggs has gone up,” said Raja Sara.
Zahida then asked: “Do we want to be cheated by this one-term government?”
The video continues with criticism against the PH administration, with the women speaking in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
“This government is only about urban Malaysians. The rural people have been forgotten. Access to jobs is still bad,” said Zahida.
“The main issue is the cost of living, and PH’s empty promise that life will be better if they are in power.”
“Everything else does not matter, and the people are bored listening about 1MDB every day when they can’t put food on the table,” said Dr Masliha, referring to the multibillion-dollar 1Malaysia Development Bhd scandal.
The video ends with the trio reading from a list of PH’s election manifesto pledges, and saying they have not been fulfilled.
While some criticism made in the video was valid, such as that targeting PH’s move to write off Felda and National Higher Education Fund loans, it is not true that the ruling pact had vowed to reduce the price of petrol to RM1.50. PH’s pledge was only to stabilise the price.
On the failure to restore Sabah and Sarawak’s position as equal partners to the peninsula, Umno itself chose not to support the constitutional amendment when the bill was tabled in Parliament last month.
The video was uploaded onto Puteri Umno’s Facebook page on May 1, and has been shared once. It was also published on YouTube, where it has gotten 97 views as of today. – May 21, 2019.
