THE Selangor Royal Office has denied the involvement of Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in a programme organised by Umno Supreme Council member Lokman Adam in Malacca tomorrow.
In a statement, Tengku Amir’s private secretary, Saidatul Asyikin Muhammad Johar, said the prince had never agreed to join the “Santai Teh Tarik” event that purportedly also involves three other princes.
“Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah is not involved in the ‘Santai Teh Tarik’ event as published in a poster that has since gone viral,” Saidatul said.
She expressed regret that the image of Tengku Amir was misused for political purposes.
“The image of Tengku Amir was used without the consent from the prince and the Selangor palace.
“The public is advised against believing in fake news that is created to cause confusion and is made solely without the approval from the palace,” she added.
Lokman yesterday announced the event on social media, claiming that the crown princes of Johor, Selangor, Pahang and another “mystery” prince would make an appearance.
He invited the public to join the event, stating that they could take “seflies” with the princes.
However, a few hours later Lokman said the event may not happen due to several “phone calls”.
“I only wanted to have tea with four crown princes at Mahkota Parade on Monday, but they’re already getting all kinds of phone calls.”
“Looks like the people’s wish to have tea with their crown princes may not happen,” he said in a circulated WhatsApp message. – April 28, 2019.
