INVESTIGATION papers on five PKR members who allegedly stopped and searched a police vehicle during the Rantau by-election have been forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Negri Sembilan acting police chief Mohamad Mat Yusop said the five have been released on bail.

“We have submitted the relevant papers to AGC, and we will wait for further instructions.

“All five have been released on police bail, following the end of their remand order.”

On Monday, Mohamad told The Malaysian Insight that officers had nabbed the five suspects, who allegedly searched the patrol car for excess ballot papers after polling ended last Saturday.

The men were picked up in the two days following the by-election.

The police vehicle in question was escorting another car carrying ballot papers to the vote-tallying centre at SJK (C) Chung Hua about 6pm when the incident occurred.

Video recordings of the patrol car being searched had gone viral. – April 20, 2019.
