THE shocking findings of the Suhakam public inquiry into the disappearance of two missing activists will create extreme fear and prejudice against the police force.
That the police were responsible for the abductions of the two is unnerving, to say the least.
They have been previously accused of throwing people into the slammer and brutality.
Now this?
And the thought that the former inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar and his underlings in Special Branch testified in the inquiry, denying any role in this, is unbelievable.
Malaysians should not allow them now to use the excuse that they were simply following orders to get out of this.
If that is the excuse, then tell us who gave the orders to abduct and God knows, do what else to the two men. Remember, they have yet to be found.
We have charged the former prime minister, deputy prime minister and a senior minister from the Najib administration, so it should be easier bringing these former top cops to book, too.
What else are they hiding? Do we now need to be concerned about the Indira Gandhi case as well?
They must be held accountable for the missing activists at least. It happened on their watch. They have brought the 212-year-old police institution to their knees.
Malaysia, already reeling from the largest kleptocracy scandal in the world, now has a police force accused of the most heinous crime.
If nothing is done quickly by the present administration to bring these fellows to book and show the world we mean business cleaning up the system, then we will have the blood of pastor Raymond Koh and activist Amri Che Mat on our hands, too.
God help Malaysia. – April 3, 2019.
