NAJIB Razak’s daughter gushed about her father’s strength, kindness and love as he faces his first corruption trial tomorrow in relation to the scandal-plagued 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Nooryana Najwa Najib said she, along with “thousands” of supporters, are praying for him, adding that the trial will also be a chance for the former prime minister to vindicate himself.
“This past year, more than ever, you taught me to be kind in the face of cruelty,” she said on her Instagram account.
“You taught me to be brave in the face of uncertainty, You taught me to trust in the face of hopelessness, You taught me to love in the face of hate.
“Most of us can afford to fail in private. You had to fail in public.
“But, that just also means while most of us rise up alone, you get to rise up in the eyes of millions.”
Nooryana, better known as Yana, urged Najib to ignore his haters who were intent on “shaming you”.
“For every dozen who rejoice at shaming you, there are hundreds who stand with you. There are thousands who wish you well and pray for you. I am one of them,” she said.
Investigations into 1MDB’s losses kicked off after Pakatan Harapan won the 14th general election last May.
The probes led to dozens of allegations against Najib, who is slapped with 42 charges of corruption and money-laundering.
After several delays, his trial for money-laundering, corruption and abuse of power over the transfer of money from a former 1MDB subsidiary, SRC International, begins tomorrow.
He faces three counts of criminal breach of trust, three counts of money-laundering, and one count of power abuse, over sums amounting to RM42 million belonging to SRC.
Najib has pleaded not guilty to all charges. – April 2, 2019.
