UNDERPRIVILEGED children from five schools in Negri Sembilan’s Rantau state constituency received free food coupons amounting to RM75,000 from Miri MP Dr Michael Teo Yu Keng today.

Dr Teo said the coupons were given to about 300 pupils, with each of them receiving donations ranging from RM50 to RM150.

“I had earlier carried out a similar programme for eight schools around Miri. Looking at the good response, I decided to continue the free food coupon programme in Rantau at the request of the constituency’s PKR coordinator, Dr S. Streram.

“This personal assistance will continue as long as there is demand from schools and as long as I can afford it,” he told reporters after submitting the food coupons to SK Sendayan today.

Also present, was Dr Streram who is also the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Rantau by-election and Lubok Antu MP Jugah Muyang.

Dr Streram said he hoped the contribution would ease the burden of students from underprivileged families as well as the B40 (low income) households.

The schools selected for the programme are SJKC Sin Min Kuala Sawah, SJKT Ladang Kombok, SJKT Rantau and SK Siliau. – Bernama, March 28, 2019.
