Still a clown after all

THE incident at University Malaya this afternoon sums up what Najib Razak and his supporters represent.

The former prime minister can go around unashamedly smiling with his “Apa malu, bossku” campaign despite bringing Umno down and facing multiple charges.

He can pretend to shop at Tesco. He can even hop onto another person’s campaign.

But God forbid if others decide to hold a few placards near one of his events. They get pushed around, roughed up and have their placards torn.

This is no coincidence.

When Bilqis Hijjas dropped “democracy”, “free media” and “justice” balloons on him and his wife Rosmah Mansor during an event in 2015, the dancer was charged in court.

When MACC duo Abu Kassim Mohamad, Mohd Shukri Abdul, Bank Negara chief Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail were actively investigating the 1MDB scandal, they mysteriously retired or were medically boarded out.

When Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir tried to question him while they were still in Umno, they were sacked.

And when Dr Mahathir Mohamad tried to do it, he had to face the Royal Commission of Inquiry over the 30-year-old Bank Negara forex fiasco.

And over the years, any media that attempted to question him on the money that went into his personal accounts from 1MDB, SRC International Sdn Bhd were either shut out from his events or government offices.

This is what Najib and his group represent. Anyone who dared to stand up or question were either bullied, roughed-up or threatened.

This boorish behaviour and complete absence of moral and ethics are what the vast majority of Malaysians rejected on May 9.

And while he goes around pretending everything is fine and he is unashamedly proud of his achievements, he’s still the caricature activist Fahmi Reza came up with in 2016.

A clown that can never be allowed to lead again. – March 22, 2019.

  • The impact of wielding cash to garner support is significant and will last a considerable length of time if our ruling power is not willing to cap it quickly. We will continue to see more clown acts.

  • Who gives Najib the strength to act in this manner. Well it is none other than PH meekness. All the journalists , bloggers , writters and PH politicians can scream and condemn him till dooms day , nothing ticks !!! PH is still in dreamy slumber and in no urgency to convict him.
