NON-Malays and non-Muslims don’t want the federal government to be governed like Kelantan and Terengganu as there is minimal participation from other races, said Lim Guan Eng.
“The non-Malay-Muslims in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak feel threatened that they are made scapegoats by PAS and Umno for the problems in the country.
“Where it is permissible to lie and where corruption scandals by Muslim leaders are secondary to a non-Muslim, even though the non-Muslim is honest and competent,” the DAP secretary-general said in a statement today.
He said as much as PAS claims it has non-Muslim support from one of its wings, Dewan Himpunan Penyokong PAS, and through MCA and MIC, these group have received little support from non-Muslims
“PAS should know that both parties (MCA and MIC) received little or no support from non-Malays and are viewed as little puppets of Umno,” said Lim, who has been locked in a battle of words with the opposition since Umno decided to partner PAS.
The Finance Minister also asked if PAS was willing to apologise for saying that non-Malays and non-Muslims should not be appointed ministers or that non-Muslim now controlled the government.
“If PAS is not willing to apologise, how can it blame others from feeling threatened as their fundamental rights are now being questioned,” said Lim.
Lim cited PAS-Umno’s questioning of the funding given to vernacular schools.
“DAP congratulates PAS for successfully recruiting MCA and MIC to support its extremist positions.
“For this reason, the PAS Youth president has openly praised MCA as better than DAP, even though MCA openly questioned my approval for the funding of sekolah agama rakyat and sekolah tahfiz,” he said.
He said PAS used to be a moderate party under former spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, but had become more extreme now. – March 10, 2019.
