ANWAR Ibrahim today urged PKR members to respect the Pakatan Harapan agreement, following calls for him to replace Dr Mahathir Mohamad as prime minister.
“I will advise party members and assemblymen to respect the spirit of PH and support Dr Mahathir, as agreed upon,” said the PKR president and Port Dickson MP in Parliament.
Batu Uban assemblyman Kumaresan Aramugam yesterday called on Anwar to replace Dr Mahathir as prime minister, after the coalition’s defeat in the Semenyih by-election.
He said the move will allow PH to regain the people’s trust.
“Anwar should be made prime minister, as agreed upon, to chart the coalition’s future.
“With his experience as former deputy prime minister and finance minister, I believe he can get the job done,” said the Bayan Baru PKR Youth chief.
Anwar today dismissed concerns about the PAS-Umno tie-up.
“Not all Malays are in PAS and Umno. There are many in Bersatu and PKR, too.
“The important point is not just the unity of Malays, but how to defend the position of Islam, strengthen the use of the Malay language and protect the interests of other races.
“The approach taken by PH is the right one and can resolve the problems of the people, whether they are Malays or non-Malays, who are in the B40 group.”
He said what is even more important is good governance.
“The majority of the poor are Malays, hence, there’s no need to press upon this point,” he said after attending the Parliament Reform Caucus.
The meeting, attended by Barisan Nasional secretary-general Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Iskandar Puteri MP Lim Kit Siang, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, Sg Petani MP Johari Abdul and Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah, discussed efforts to eradicate poverty and fight corruption.
It was briefed by National Centre for Governance, Integrity and Anti-Corruption chief Abu Kassim Mohamed.
Anwar said the caucus wants to determine why there is a perception that allocations for the poor have been cut.
“There’s a perception that allocations have been reduced, when they have not. They are still there, but channelled to targeted groups.”
The meeting also discussed the terms of reference for the royal commission of inquiry into the judiciary, he said. – March 5, 2019.

The public has no time since too many monetary issues being abused since PH took over. We want names to be responsible followed by actions. Never attempt to cheat public funds, abusal, siphoning or stealing.
It's time for PH to seek tax payers n public approval before selling any government assets, acquiring assets, any matters that affects country financial matters which exceeds certain amount, being practiced in many countries. Mahathir in the past has caused lots of financial scandals n not being disclosed. He is back now n too many financial problems is back again. Never blame the previous BN for everything as an excuse. As Najib mentioned many thing is under control n audited, so pls get audit department to provide genuine evidence n cause. Don't attempt to cheat or manipulate as public has all rights to demand for re audit by right bodies again. Nobody has rights to simply accuse or pointing others rather than proper evidence n data. Let's induce the right systems in place n put a stop to personal system effectively.
