MUSLIMS are not afraid to die in the name of Prophet Muhammad, said right-wing Malay Muslim groups including Umno and PAS, who staged a rally today to defend their race and religion.
In the rally after Friday prayers this afternoon, one of the speakers, Mohd Zabin Mustafa from the Majlis Pembangunan Pendidikan Islam Malaysia, said that Muslims are not afraid to die in the name of the prophet.
Another speaker, Idris Ahmad, who is PAS vice-president, told the crowd that defending Prophet Muhammad’s name and dignity was part of Jihad.
“You can insult our parents, our family, you can steal our land and you can take away our rights, but you can never insult our religion and prophet.
“We must stand up and rise up to defend our beloved Prophet Muhammad. This is our Jihad,” Idris said.
Idris’ sentiment was supported by Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dasuki, who proposed a mega rally if no action is taken against individuals who insult Islam.

Asyraf also took a swipe at Minister in charge of Islamic Affairs Mujahid Yusof Rawa, saying that the minister was too lenient in defending Islam.
“The minister accused Umno and PAS of using Islam for political gains but today it showed that the minister who is the one who uses Islam as political tool.
“He kept quiet about this issue, he did not come up to defend Islam as a minister, what he cares is only those in power.
“We will rally with a bigger number than our last ICERD rally if there is no action taken. This is our promise,” Asyraf said.
“Do not play with fire, do not insult Islam and do not try to insult our religion,” he added.
The rally today took place at the National Mosque right after Friday prayers.
Some 300 members from the group attended the rally that ended at 3.30pm.
