SUV in Penang Bridge crash found


THE vehicle that fell into the sea during a car crash on Penang Bridge early yesterday morning has been found.

Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the white Mazda CX-5 SUV was found some 15m from Pillar 34 near Km4 of the bridge about 4pm.

“A diving team will return to the area where the car was found to survey the condition of the vehicle,” he said today.

He said efforts to retrieve the car using a crane are ongoing, but will take time.

It is not known if the driver, identified as 20-year-old student Moey Yun Peng, is in the vehicle.

In the incident that took place about 2.45am yesterday, the SUV plunged into the sea after colliding with another vehicle heading towards Prai. – Bernama, January 21, 2019.
