PERLIS Bersatu has dropped Wan Saiful Wan Jan as its secretary after finding him too busy with his duties as National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) chairman.

State party chief Ameir Hassan said Wan Saiful had not been able to carry out his duties as the party’s state secretary, according to a report by Malaysiakini.

He acknowledged that his role at PTPTN was a heavy burden but it had left many party matters unattended.

“We don’t want to burden him (Wan Saiful).

“There are communication breakdowns and other issues because he is too busy with PTPTN. I think we should not burden him anymore,” Ameir was reported as saying.

The decision was made two days ago at a meeting of Perlis Bersatu, which Wan Saiful did not attend.

Ameir said that the power to appoint the secretary was with the state party chairman and as such, Wan Saiful was not informed of the intention to drop him ahead of time.

However, a letter has already been sent to him.

Ameir said the secretary’s post will be filled by another state Bersatu leader. – January 7, 2019.
