BERSATU’S Youth wing Armada today slammed party vice-president Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman for demanding that the top leadership use its powers in the government help grassroots leaders gain contracts and business licences.
Bersatu information chief Ulya Aqamah Husamudin said that it opposed the suggestion that the government “aid” division and branch chiefs in acquiring projects.
“We oppose this call (for projects). If they (leaders) want contracts, then they will have to go through the proper channels.
“We will come out and fight this issue if it continues,” he said after the Bersatu annual general assembly in Putrajaya today.
Earlier, Abdul Rashid’s closing speech appeared to run counter to the principles of separating government and party – something that underpins the Pakatan Harapan coalition that Bersatu belongs to.
He had urged top leaders to bring back the federal development department (JPP) so that activities in opposition-controlled states could be directly controlled by the government.
“In the states we lost, we should not give them the opportunity to fight us. We must bring back the JPP so that activities can be channelled through them. And, division and branch chiefs can benefit from these activities,” he had said.
Ulya said that while it had no issues with members getting contracts, they must be capable and bid for it.
“He (Abdul Rashid) has the right to voice out (his suggestion) but this is not the party’s stand.
“We have to change this budaya (culture) and this is our challenge.”
He said this kind of behaviour was still going on in the party.
“We can’t keep quiet if there is abuse of power.
“We will report them to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, as we did with other members previously.” – December 30, 2018.

Armada is right in its approach.. We need cultured and sincere people like this in Government
Put Abdul Rashid in cold storage..
We cannot just say that it is his opinion for suggesting that preferential treatment be given to grass root leaders... He is Bersatu VP and behaving like an UNNO crony.....
How different is he from ex-UMNO politicians wanting to join Bersatu?
