Rafizi's appointment Anwar's prerogative, says Dr Wan Azizah

THE appointment of former Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli as PKR vice-president is the party president’s prerogative, said Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

The PKR advisory council chairman said Rafizi also received many votes during the recent party election.

“It is the prerogative of the president to choose who he wants, and Rafizi received many votes during the contest,” she said in Kuala Lumpur today.

Besides Rafizi, Anwar also announced the appointment of Tanjong Malim MP Chang Lih Kang and Saratok MP Ali Biju as vice-presidents.

They will join the other three elected during the recent party polls, namely Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Housing and local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, and former Batu MP Tian Chua.

Anwar made the announcement in a statement issued yesterday after the party’s central leadership council meeting.

During the PKR election, Rafizi lost to Mohamed Azmin Ali for the deputy president’s post.

Perlis PKR chairman Amran Kamarudin said that Azmin should not have issued a media statement on Rafizi’s appointment as it would be a breach of party regulations.

“It is impossible that Rafizi’s appointment will cause a rift in the party,” he said today. – Bernama, December 29, 2018.

  • is the prerogative written in black and white in is PKR's policies? izzah will secure her VP seat in the next party election hands down being the darling of the party, if its not written than rightfully the fourth candidate standing during the VP election to fill the gap left by izzah, so was all this part to be counter balance azmin's moves.
