PAS Youth will hold a nationwide rally on New Year’s Eve to protest what it says are false promises by the Pakatan Harapan government, said Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi.
The Youth chief said the “Hit & Run Derita Rakyat” rally will be held on December 31 at 10pm in front of Sogo Shopping Centre in the capital and other selected locations nationwide.
“Not only does the PH government appear to lack political will to resolve past problems, it also lacks ideas to push for future change.
“This outpouring of suffering must be amplified throughout the nation. The message must be delivered to the government as a signal from the people,” he said in a statement today.
Khalil, the son of PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, said Putrajaya appeared to have failed to address the rising cost of living in the country.
“Many allocations given to the poor, low-income, students, farmers, and fishermen among others, were either slashed or abolished.
“On the other hand, the allocation initiative seems to only benefit the rich,” he said.
Khalil said that Putrajaya’s move to replace the goods and services tax with the sales and services tax did not bring down the cost of goods.
“At present, the consumer price index and the inflation rate continues to record an increase, at the same time contributing to the decrease in the people’s spending power,” he said in the statement.
Khalil said that youth unemployment was also on the rise, and that the PH government wasn’t doing enough to address the issue of foreign workers and “imported” skilled labour. – December 27, 2018.
