PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Pakatan Harapan ministers to exercise more wisdom and sensitivity towards the different communities when making or announcing new decisions or policies.
Anwar, who was once Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s deputy before he was sacked in 1998, said the mostly new cabinet should consider the plight of the people before making any decision.
“To my fellow colleagues in the government, be more aware of what is going on. If there is an unrest, handle it with care, wise and do not rush when making any decision.
Anwar, who was elected as Port Dickson MP in October, hoped that PH can handle not just the Malay issues, but look out for the plight of other communities as well.
“We were fighting for everyone’s wellbeing before the elections. The Chinese, the Indians and others.
“It is not impossible if we have an open policy, we can stand up for the Malays as well as the Chinese, Indians and other minority groups,” he added.

Anwar was speaking about the anger expressed by the Malays at Saturday’s mega-rally in Dataran Merdeka against the ratification of a United Nations anti-racism convention.
The International Convention on the Eradication of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) was seen by many protesters as a tool to challenge the rights of the Malays and Bumiputera.
The issue was exploited by Umno and PAS to gather the support of the Malays at Saturday’s rally.
Putrajaya decided to cancel its plan to ratify ICERD following backlash from Malay supremacist groups. – December 10, 2018.
