FORMER prime minister Najib Razak was summoned to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters this morning to facilitate investigations into allegations he tampered with the 1Malaysian Development Bhd (1MDB) audit report.
A source at the anti-graft body confirmed Najib’s arrival at 10.30am.
“We will record his statement.”
Yesterday, former MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad was at MACC in response to a summon for his assistance in the same probe.
Dzulkifli is among the witnesses sought out by MACC after it compared the original 1MDB audit report with the version that was released by the National Audit Department.
The investigation was prompted by Auditor-General Madinah Mohamad’s revelations on November 25 that the 1MDB final audit report was modified upon the orders of then prime minister Najib.
Madinah said two key points were removed from the report, which were the presence of fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low in a 1MDB board meeting and the state investor’s financial status.
Following Madinah’s statement, MACC opened fresh investigation papers and announced they would call up several individuals to assist in the probe.
On November 26, former auditor-general Ambrin Buang was quizzed by the MACC over the same allegations. β December 6, 2018.
