POLICE have arrested 83 people in connection with the riot at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple, said Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
The inspector-general of police said they are still tracking down other suspects, including witnesses sought by the Bukit Aman CID.
“As of 8am today (December 4), a total of 83 men have been detained to assist investigations into the trouble at the temple.
“We are still investigating and those who broke the law will be detained,” he was quoted as saying during a press conference today at the police training college.
Yesterday, Bukit Aman said it was tracking down 28 witnesses to facilitate investigations into the riots at the temple last week.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd urged all witnesses to come forward and cooperate with police.
Those with information on witnesses can contact Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat at 019-6000-903, Subang Jaya police headquarters’ CID chief, G. Shan Gopal, at 019-2714-387, or the nearest police station.
Multiple vehicles were set ablaze and fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim has been hospitalised with serious injuries, purportedly caused by rioters. – December 4, 2018.
