Muslims should govern the country and hold core leadership positions in Malaysia, said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang on Harakah Daily today.
“In Malaysia, Muslim Malays, who are the dominant race, should be in leadership positions because of Islam’s position in the Federal Constitution and also because Muslims make up the monarchy.
“The same goes for core positions such as those within the judiciary, administration, security, and defence, because of the prestige attached to these positions.
“The prestige is lost if (the positions) fall into the hands of non-dominant races,” he said.
He assured non-Muslims that they should not worry as they are guaranteed justice and rights in the Quran and the Federal Constitution.
Hadi also voiced concern that political parties and individuals challenging the position of Islam, the monarchy, and Muslim-Malay special rights could jeopardise the good relationship between the Muslims and non-Muslims that had been fostered in the country.
“There are also ignorant, independent-thinking Muslims who have lost their Islamic and national identity and are playing a role in undermining the concept of ‘dominance’.
“People of all races and religions should reject this group of people in the general election for the benefit of everyone and better days ahead,” said Hadi.
He said PAS rejected those who question the concept (of leadership) or ignore its importance.
“PAS insists that Muslim Malays must incorporate Islam in politics as it is the core of Malaysia’s plural society and is the nation’s pillar of leadership, because Malays are dominant and Islam is fair to all.
“All is safe if Malays have Islam. All will not be safe if Malays are without Islam.” – August 19, 2017.
