FORMER education minister Mahdzir Khalid will be charged with graft in relation to a solar hybrid project in Sarawak, said sources.
A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission official told The Malaysian Insight that Mahdzir has been summoned to the anti-graft agency’s headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday.
He is expected to be detained overnight before being charged the next day.
Mahdzir will be the third individual to be charged over the solar project.
Earlier this month, former prime minister Najib Razak’s wife, Rosmah Mansor, and her former aide, Rizal Mansor, were charged separately in relation to the project.
Mahdzir was questioned by MACC last month over the award of the contract for the solar project for schools in Sarawak’s interior.
It was reported that there were irregularities in the award of the contract for the RM2.5 billion project on the direct orders of a former senior national leader. β November 27, 2018.
