A MAN, who admitted abusing a beer promoter at a hypermarket recently, today issued a public apology over his action.

The apology to the woman and all Malaysians was uploaded on Facebook in a 45-second video clip at 1.30am today.

“I am the person known as ‘Edi Rejang’ and I wish to apologise to all Malaysians, especially the female promoter,” said the man.

“I admit my wrongdoing and regret my actions against the said promoter. I hope this issue will not be prolonged as I have met Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng and apologised.”

The man said Lim will arrange a meeting between him and the promoter as soon as possible.

“Edi Rejang” drew public outrage when he took a video of himself confronting a beer promoter at the Giant hypermarket in Ampang Point this week.

In the 45-second clip, the man was seen harassing the promoter about her race and religion and asked why she had to promote beer openly.

The female promoter replied that the beer was only given to non-Muslim customers.

The video ended with the man showing the woman his “middle finger”.

Checks on Facebook later showed that Edi Rejang’s account has been deactivated.

Police said they are looking for the man as the case is now classified as insulting the modesty of a woman through gesture or words.

This was after Lim lodged a police report over the video which had gone viral.

This led to social media users sharing photographs of the alleged bully’s children with details of which school they attended.

Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching issued a statement later urging the public to leave out the bully’s children in this case.

She said she will not allow any child to be discriminated against or bullied in school.

“Let’s end hatred in society, and please do not bring it to the school,” Teo posted in her Facebook page yesterday. – November 21, 2018.

  • Sorry is no cure in the eyes of the law. Prosecution should proceed if there is basis for that.

  • Tqvm. Really don't know whether it is sincere or not but willing to give this racist the benifit of the doubt.
Having said that a police report has been made and let the police investigate and a deterrent sentence ought to be meted are guilty of this act.

  • Racists are bullies and cowards when confronted with legal actions.
In psychological terms, it usually starts with preying on a weaker victim.
In this case ,that female promoter.
When threatened with legal suits or public outrage, a bully will usually succumbed.
Edi Rejang needs psychiatric treatments, besides his apology.
He is mentally sick due to BTN or religious indoctrination.

  • Edi Rejang has apologised. So let's give him respect for humbly apologising his wrong. He is better than one moronic VIP of MIC, who refused to apologise to the airport officers.

  • If by saying sorry just to erase the misdeed then expect more troubles ahead. Can I apologise to you after I said you are a SOB?
