Zuraida wants PKR to field woman candidate in Rantau by-election

PKR vice-president candidate Zuraida Kamaruddin has called on the party to field a woman candidate in the Rantau by-election.

The former Wanita chief said she already has two eligible candidates in mind, and will forward their names to the PKR leadership council for consideration.

She said the party has yet to discuss the polls.

“In the 14th general election, there were no women candidates in Negri Sembilan. So, for the Rantau by-election, I recommend that we field a woman candidate.

“The people of Negri Sembilan are particular about having candidates from the state, and the two names I have in mind are locals,” she told reporters after the PKR Wanita congress in Shah Alam yesterday.

The Seremban Election Court has ordered a by-election for the Rantau state seat after allowing PKR’s Dr Streram Sinnasamy’s application that the Election Commission was wrong to prevent him from filing his nomination papers for the May 9 elections.

The ruling by justice Azimah Omar means former menteri besar Mohamad Hasan, who won Rantau uncontested in GE14, is no longer the valid assemblyman. – Bernama, November 17, 2018.

    • Perhaps it also has something to do with the Indian candidate being in Radizi's camp? Vindictive.
