Khairy will be first to debate Pakatan on national budget, says Zahid

UMNO’s Khairy Jamaluddin will be the first member of the opposition to debate Pakatan Harapan in the new government’s first national debate, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. 

“Traditionally this is the opposition leader’s job but the Barisan Nasional MPs have agreed that Khairy will do it. 

“He also holds the finance portfolio in the shadow committee,” said the Umno president in Rantau, Negri Sembilan, today. 

The parliamentary debate on the national budget will begin Monday.

Zahid said Khairy was entrusted to take on the role after the agreement of other BN parliamentarians.

Last Thursday, Khairy had unveiled BN’s shadow budget, calling for a return of GST at a lower rate of 3%.

GST was previously fixed at 6% before the new government abolished it.

With the lower rate, Khairy said the revenue collected would be about the same as SST but would solve the issue of under-reported tax. – November 6, 2018.

  • Will KJ (among other things) tell Parliament that price increases, and some prices not coming down, is due to Pakatan govt's mistake in not retaining GST (with GST law already put in place) and just reducing it from 6% to a more acceptable 3%?..
