THE three youths arrested on suspicion of inciting unrest at yesterday’s Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum in Shah Alam are not members of Bersatu Youth, said Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The Bersatu Youth chief said the three suspects aged 17, 18 and 19 did not meet the minimum age requirement for membership, and their names were not on the party membership roll.

The three had worn T-shirts bearing the Bersatu Youth logo to pass off as members of the wing but “they are not Bersatu members”, Syed Saddiq said in a statement today.

“The question is, if they are not Bersatu Youth members, who used them to try to injure Tun Mahathir?” he said.

The Nothing to Hide 2.0 forum held in the Raja Muda Musa Hall yesterday ended in chaos after several youths threw chairs and shoes at the stage, where Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad was taking questions. The youths also lit flares.  Dr Mahathir was immediately escorted to safety, along with his wife and other Bersatu leaders.

Following the incident, three suspects who had allegedly caused the disturbance were apprehended and handed over to police.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the three suspects were aged 17 to 19 and two of them were college students. – August 14, 2017.
