Shahidan mulls suing those who spread sex assault allegations

FORMER Perlis menteri besar Shahidan Kassim said he is discussing with lawyers whether to take legal action against those who spread allegations that he had sexually assaulted an underage girl.

At a press conference held at the Parliament lobby today, he described his relationship with the alleged victim and the group of buskers she is part of as “family”.

“I consider them as my children and grandchildren. There is no other desire. And anyway, I can’t really walk any more.

“I will discuss with my lawyers. For sure, I will not remain silent.”

On Monday, the alleged victim withdrew a police report lodged against Shahidan after her parents decided not to prolong the matter.

However, authorities said they will proceed with investigations.

Shahidan, who is Arau MP, called on the media and other parties to let police do their job.

“I am not angry because we have made our peace, and because I trust that the girl’s family understand me, that I view these busking kids as my children and grandchildren.

“I have given police full cooperation, and I hope the media will not prolong this because it affects the dignity of the girl. She has a future and should be given protection.”

He did not dismiss the possibility that the incident is an attempt to sabotage his political career.

“I thought reporters would be more professional, but the one who spread the news was a reporter.

“If reporters want to contact me, to investigate the matter, I welcome them. The story was spread on social media, and after that, I was made to answer.”

According to her police report, the girl entered Shahidan’s car after she was informed by a man, believed to be her teacher, that the lawmaker wanted to see her for a chat.

The victim, a secondary school student from Arau, had been performing with a group called Kumpulan Aukustika on 7 @ DSSK Busker at Stadium Tuanku Syed Putra.

In her report, she said she ran out of the car after Shahidan touched her shoulder and held her hand.

After the police report was retracted, Lawyers for Liberty said it was “suspicious” that it was done on the very day it was lodged, and urged police to continue their probe. – October 31, 2018.

  • Common la ..again, stupid journalists. They are talking to him as if was their uncle. Bodoh. The girl made a report for fun ah? Why never ask why he singled the girl out to go into his car. If he couldnt walk why he didnt have the guardian of the girl follow?

  • You bastard must have twisted the family's arm so much so that they withdrew the police reports. All the facts, evidents and witnesses are there and a 15 year old girl would not tell a lie nor making up stories for such things in trying to frame you. As for the wheel chair what another wayang kulit as your dick clearly yearns for something that is fresh and tight.
