MALACCA PKR may have to hold elections all over again after votes went unregistered yesterday due to glitches in the new electronic voting, or e-voting, system.
Five of the six divisions in the state encountered problems with the new system, which failed to register the votes of some of the party members, said PKR election committee (JPP) chairman Rashid Din.
Tangga Batu, Jasin, Kota Melaka, Masjid Tanah and Alor Gajah experienced systemic glitches, and “only Bukit Katil had a smooth elections”.
“We asked for 24 hours to hold a post-mortem to find the missing votes. But we failed to find them; we were looking till 2am this morning,” Rashid told The Malaysian Insight.
He said that if the issue was not resolved, JPP would have to call for re-polling in these divisions.
A press conference would be called tomorrow with information updates, he said.
He also said the committee would be calling for a press conference tomorrow to update the status party polls in Malacca.
PKR’s Jelebu division in Negri Sembilan experienced similar problems with the e-voting process during elections yesterday.
Rafizi Ramli had yesterday night claimed victory over incumbent Mohamed Azmin Ali in the race for the party deputy presidency after the votes were counted in Negri Sembilan and Malacca.
He said on Twitter that unofficially, he had won 52% of the vote in eight divisions in Negri Sembilan and 55% of the vote in six divisions in Malacca.
However, the results were not published on the PKR election website.
Malacca PKR has 23,466 voters and Negri Sembilan, 36,970.
Selangor PKR is holding a second round of ballots today. Elections in Selangor, which has the highest number of members and is long held to be a Azmin’s stronghold, are held over three weekends. – October 21, 2018.

Why use the so called electronic voting system when it is creating so much controversies?

The electronic system is not credible. Will create issues.
PKR Sec Gen is all quiet about this. He should be hauled up and questioned. Including Rafizi.
