NAJIB Razak today made fun of Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik for being “far-sighted” in deciding on the colour of school socks.

The former prime minister took to Facebook after it emerged that the ministry is holding discussions on the matter.

“Our education minister is far-sighted. I don’t understand why some criticise him.

“The colour of school shoes and socks is important to students’ development and learning.

“It is a shame that the previous Barisan Nasional ministers did not carry out such a study.”

The Pekan MP, who was education minister from 1995 to 2000, said hopefully, Maszlee will also study the suitable colours for school uniforms and buildings.

“God willing, our children will benefit, and be successful in the future.”

It was reported that Maszlee said the ministry is in talks with stakeholders on the colour of school socks.

Yesterday, Bumiputera Retailers’ Organisation vice-president Ameer Ali Mydin asked the ministry to clarify whether primary and secondary school students would be allowed to wear black socks next year.

It followed the ministry’s announcement on Saturday that its black school shoes ruling will be postponed to 2021, after plans to have it come into effect next year were met with resistance. – October 15, 2018.

  • I so totally agree with the de facto Opposition Leader. Shame! Ed Minister. Shame. You are a disgrace to the Government and is certainly doing nothing for our future generations. Shame!
