THERE should be no dispute over the choice of Anwar Ibrahim as the next prime minister as the matter had been decided by Pakatan Harapan through a consensus, said the coalition’s vice president, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, said only the time frame of the succession had not been decided and this will be discussed at the PH presidential council.
“There is consensus. PH reached a consensus that Anwar will take over the leadership of the country after a suitable period. But I feel the timing must be disussed by PH.

“That is the practice of the PH presidential council. National and leadership issues are brought to the council and discussed. What is important is that the consensus is final. Only the period (of the succession) needs to be discussed,” he said after a tahlil event at Masjid Bagan Pinang in Port Dickson last night.
The certainty of Anwar becoming prime minster was cast in doubt by certain parties after the Port Dickson by-election was called to enable him to enter Parliament.
PH deputy president and Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin at same event last night also said Anwar will become prime minister when the time comes.
“There will come a suitable time … when Anwar will take over the post of Malaysia’s eighth prime minister,” Muhyiddin said in his first public appearance after being on medical leave for three months.

Last month, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad also gave the assurance that Anwar will become prime minister, but he asked for two years before he hands over the reins.
Throughout his campaign in Port Dickson, Anwar has insisted that Dr Mahathir’s premiership must be supported, and that his return to Parliament was meant to improve parliamentary procedures. – October 12, 2018.
