A FORMER political secretary to the opposition leader pleaded not guilty today to two counts of accepting RM350,000 in bribes in 2020.

Sayed Amir Muzzakkir Al Sayed Mohamad, 42, worked for Hamzah Zainudin. 

Sayed was charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

The accused allegedly committed the offence in December 2020.

Sayed was charged with accepting a total of RM350,000 from Nexuscorp Group Sdn Bhd managing director Wan Azhar Yusof as inducement to help the company secure a RM381 million contract.

The contract was for the maintenance and supply of the infrastructure, server, and software of police radio system RMPNET.

The offences allegedly took place at Solaris Dutamas on December 4 and 16, 2020.

Zander Lim was the deputy public prosecutor. Sayed was represented by Yunos Shariff.

The judge set July 12 for case mention. – May 23, 2024.
