Pakatan challenges Perikatan candidate to declare assets, debts

KHAIRUL Azhari Saut, the Perikatan National candidate for Kuala Kubu Baru, must declare his assets and debts following claims he owes a licensed moneylender RM30,000, Pakatan Harapan said today.

PH information youth chief Ammar Atan urged Khairul to explain the allegation – the second aimed at the PN candidate after his academic credentials were questioned.

Khairul was accused of lying about his tertiary education qualifications after a TikTok user asked whether it took two years to acquire an executive diploma. Khairul has maintained that his university qualifications were genuine. 

“Khairul dodged the question (of owing money) when he was approached recently. He should declare his assets and liabilities to clear his name,” Ammar said, adding that the Kelantan mufti had declared that it was a sin to borrow money from loan sharks.

Ammar urged voters to choose PH candidate Pang Sock Tao whom he said was the better candidate.

“Kuala Kubu Baru is one of three state seats under the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency. PN won two of the three state seats in the last state elections,” Ammar said.

“However, there has been no improvement and benefits for the people (in the two PN seats).

Pang is in a four-way fight for Kuala Kubu Baru against Khairul, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

The seat fell vacant following the death of three-term DAP assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21 from cancer.

DAP has held the seat since 2013.

In last year’s Selangor elections, Lee won the seat for Pakatan Harapan after a four-cornered battle with candidates from PN, Muda, and Parti Rakyat Malaysia. – May 4, 2024.

  • Fake qualifications? I'm sure if we probe most of our current or even when UMNO started their call to have most of their leaders to have higher qualifications...this goes back some 20years back. Scrutinies this from there and I'm sure a big can of worms may surface....it was a trend then to have Masters or Doctorate degree then...mostly fakes.....start digging and happy hunting
