PRIME Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in his meeting with civil servants today ahead of the new year, said the group must continue to deliver outstanding services next year by adopting good values and not become complacent.

Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Department December assembly, Anwar, who is also finance minister, said good values contained in the Madani framework could uplift the country’s dignity.

“If we have (good) values and absorb them into the Madani (framework), I am confident we can lift the government and stop past excesses.

“We build on that strength and we leave the excesses. Hopefully, we bring the curtain down on 2023 with the spirit of unity and open another chapter of the country’s history,” he said.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Public Services Department director-general Zulkapli Mohamed.

Anwar said to not become complacent, civil servants must find ways to always improve themselves and find ways to increase productivity and avoid weaknesses and deficiencies.

“That is what I have said from the start – to adopt a culture of listening to criticism and constructive views.

“It’s good to follow the culture of our society; people generally ask questions that are quite critical, but in a polite way to maintain values and morals,” he said.

He said as the country reaches for the sky in terms of advancements in fields such as artificial intelligence, digital technology and new energy, civil servants must use the basis of religion, morals, culture and values to stay rooted. – Bernama, December 11, 2023.
