WARISAN said it would be open to work with Umno in the Sabah elections.

Warisan supreme council member Mohd Yusof Apdal said the move would be possible as long as both parties were compatible.

“Warisan is open to any cooperation with any party that understands Warisan’s struggle for Sabah and Labuan people. Even now, Warisan is already in alliance with Umno in the federal government,” he said at a press conference after officiating the Labuan Warisan annual general meeting today.

However, he said any collaboration between Warisan and Umno would be up to the parties’ leaders.

He urged his party members to align with the leadership and concentrate on addressing the people’s issues and agenda, with focus on young voters, and called for reduced politicking when serving the people.

Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin on November 19 said his branch was open to working with Warisan and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat in the state polls, but that it was too early to say anything for sure.

“As I said before, Barisan Nasional and Umno only cooperate with parties that share our objectives to champion Sabah people’s rights,” Bung Moktar said. – Bernama, November 26, 2023.
