Fewer areas log unhealthy air quality

THE air quality in the country is improving with only five localities in three states logging unhealthy levels as at 9am today.

Nilai in Negri Sembilan recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 156, followed by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur at 154.

Unhealthy API readings were also recorded in Seremban at 142, Banting and Petaling Jaya in Selangor at 119 and 109 respectively.

A reading of 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy), and 300 and above (hazardous).

The API has improved significantly today against yesterday, where 16 localities from nine states recorded unhealthy reading levels.

As of 9am, 60 stations throughout the country recorded moderate API levels while three had good readings. – October 3, 2023.
